Israeli Policy Pushes Rapprochement Among Muslim Nations

“Where Is Israel Heading, When the Only Horizon Its Leaders Offer Is War?” Such is the question posed by Haaretz, one of Israel’s leading dailies, in its Oct. 2 edition. The editorial notes further “Israel is taking giant steps towards a regional war, while the world keeps asking itself: What does it want? Where is it heading?”.

As we have written many times, the policy chosen by the extremist zionists in the Israeli government, at the urging of the Anglo-American war party, can only lead to creating ever more enemies among its neighbors and to drastically endangering its own security. Unfortunately but not surprisingly, it also leads to an increase in anti-Semitism worldwide.

The Haaretz editorial also calls attention to the intervention of Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sept. 27 at the UN, where he stated “unequivocally” that all members of the Muslim-Arab committee, “are willing to guarantee the security of Israel in the context of Israel ending the occupation and allowing for the emergence of a Palestinian state”.

As for Iran’s President Pezeshkian, he has shown restraint until now, but the situation could rapidly escalate. He traveled to Doha last week to attend the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), where, according to Reuters, the Gulf Arab states reassured him that they would remain neutral in the event of a war involving Iran and Israel. It is likely this also means that they would not allow the U.S. to use their airbases to attack Iran.

Importantly, the Iranian President also had a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, during which they agreed to bury their differences and develop friendly relations. Prince Faisal had also just written an op-ed in the Financial Times, stressing that Saudi Arabia would not establish diplomatic relations with Israel until an independent Palestinian state is established.

From the United States, a huge chorus of voices is calling on Israel to escalate. President Biden has made clear that Israel has the right to strike Iran, although he would rather they avoid hitting its oil fields or nuclear sites. Donald Trump, on the contrary, criticized Biden at an event on Oct. 4, saying “the answer should have been to hit the nuclear first and worry about the rest later”.

Meanwhile, the killing and the genocide in Gaza continue unabated, as Lebanon is bombed and large swaths of land are abandoned.
